Tip #2 - Teaching Grammar to Children

Here is a very good tip for Grammar Teaching. Children are like sponges when learning a new language. Still, we have to find effective ways to give them good grammar instruction.

Tip #1 - Energising Classes

Here is the first tip for teachers who wish or need to involve students in a lesson at any level.

There are many things we lose in our attempt to empower students. Asking students to talk about basic topics may seem to be useless due to the progress we have to follow in terms of language proficiency. We assume that the higher the level the higher the register of the topics should be. Yet there are things we do not know how to foster: follow up conversation strategies, fluency enrichment from daily basis activities, vocabulary empowerment from context, language learning strategies, etc.

Our attitude as language teachers can also affect the way students grasp new or old topics. Don't be afraid of sharing personal experiences that can foster new ways to improve their skills in the target language. Give students challenges not in terms of (e.g.) Astrophysics, but on their daily basis activities!

The Importance of English

English is a widespread and important language in the world today. It is used for everything from international academic conferences to news reports to popular music lyrics. It is used not only for communication between native speakers and nonnative speakers of English but between nonnative speakers around the world, and in some cases as a Lingua Franca. Even though it does not have the greatest number of native speakers in the world nor a strict international pronunciation, it is the most widely used language in the world, and it will be used by more people in the future.
